Kids have returned to school, so it’s a quieter time at most campgrounds. Many campgrounds host special fall events, such as Oktoberfests and Halloween parties, in celebration of the turning of the leaves. Some campers will say goodbye to new friends until next year. Many seasonals will enjoy one last weekend, while winterizing their RVs. Others may still be setting up camp for Ohio’s fall hunting seasons. When the weather turns cold, some hearty souls will test their outdoor skills in the winter climate. It can be the most peaceful camping experience to be found in Ohio. Looking for a romantic winter getaway? Many campgrounds now have cabins for rent - from rustic to upscale. It’s a perfect way to escape for a little winter solitude. From the flowering dogwood of spring and the dog days of summer, to the radiance of fall and the tranquility of winter, Ohio’s changing seasons offer camping experiences for all lifestyles and age groups. Camping is America’s favorite vacation, and there is no better state to enjoy the camping experience than Ohio, where each change of season brings a new and exciting outdoor adventure. There is nothing like spring to cure a case of cabin fever. Campers are anxious to try out the latest equipment they’ve discovered at an RV show or picked up from an outfitter. The first warm weekend the season begins finds campers scrambling to their favorite campground to set up camp. Some will be opening up a seasonal unit and decorating with baskets of spring flowers. It’s a great time to huddle around the campfire on a cool evening and reminisce about past camping trips and plan for the warmer weather to come. When summer hits, campgrounds are buzzing with activity. Kids are out of school, and parents are excited for extended camping excursions. There will be parties in the pavilion, crafts for the both adults and children, fishing in the pond, and soaking up sun at the pool. Campers will hone their skills with friendly games of cornhole. There will be side trips to visit area attractions, and hikes and bike rides on scenic trails. Days are topped off at their campsite, toasting marshmallows over the campfire for s’smores – a camping tradition. Whether it’s just for a weekend or the entire summer, camping offers something for everyone! 14 WWW.OHIOCAMPERS.COM SEASONS CAMPING FUN of FOUR C WWW.OHIOCAMPERS.COM 15 Shelby/Mansfield KOA Resort • Deluxe Cabins, Yurts, Glamping Tent • Tents to Signature Patio Sites & Pull Thrus • Jumping PIllow - Heated Pool & Hot Tub • Kafe - Landscaped Miniature Golf • Themed Weekends - Gem Mining • Laser Tag - Slacker Zip Lienorthwest ohio 16 WWW.OHIOCAMPERS.COM ATTRACTIONS Airstream Factory Tour and Heritage Center– Jackson Center.
